I believe that safety and confidentiality are of utmost importance in successful psychotherapy. When trust is developed, people can explore more deeply and clearly the current issues that distress them. I also believe that most people can find ways to feel better, to become more content in their lives. But I also know that change is hard for us all. Once we have developed certain coping skills that have helped us to survive, those patterns may be very difficult to change. But, when we gain a better understanding about why or how they developed, we can become more freed up to new and different choices that help us even more during the present time. Emotional satisfaction can also be found even as the change process is happening. My job is to help facilitate that change. I don’t have all the answers but believe that together, we can find creative and lasting solutions to age old problems and stresses.
