I am a relational therapist, meaning I believe that humans are wired for connection and our connections have a great impact of how we feel about ourselves. We have an innate need to know we belong, are valued, important, and cared for. When we have experiences in life that question these needs to be true this can lead us to feeling anxious, depressed, and living with trauma. As a result we develop strategies for trying to move through these uncomfortable emotions. We often get stuck using these strategies even long after we know they are not helpful. This is where I come in.
To guide you through developing new and helpful strategies, I use an approach called Emotionally Focused Therapy to help you make sense of emotions, recognize patterns, and become more connected to yourself and others. My goal for you is not just symptom reduction but also for long lasting and sustainable healing.
