Compassionate and also pragmatic in my approach, I draw strongly from Narrative Therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS) frameworks. My style as a therapist is to help my clients build capacity, confidence, and self-knowledge through the exploration and authoring of their own story in a trauma-informed environment. Conversely, my stance as a social worker is that sometimes practical skills and addressing external challenges takes first priority - thus I am also prepared to offer concrete tools and resources if you need them along the way. Healing and growing is a highly individualized process, and we can decide together what kind of framework you need in therapy to build towards that.
As a therapist I bring lived and professional experience to our sessions to help guide you through your own journey of healing and recovery. I am a member of the LGBTIAQ+ community with 5+ years professional experience in providing queer and trans affirming care as a therapist, and over 10 years working in social services. I believe that deep connection to self, place, and community are often central to growth and building resilience in our lives. I am a geek, a crafter, an outdoorsperson, a gardener, and a member of my community who has made it their life's work to give back and support the healing of others.
I recognize that finding a good match in a therapist can be difficult. I offer free, 30 minute consultation sessions so that we can chat and determine if I can offer you the space that you need.
