Guy Baldwin, M.S. (Los Angeles) is a California licensed psychotherapist, counselor, lifestyle coach, teacher and a busy community activist. After his retirement from over 40 years of clinical practice in the summer of 2024, he now works remotely as a life coach and public speaker, sharing his expertise and insights with audiences worldwide. He is available for online appointments, with scheduling options for daytime and weeknight hours based on the California (Pacific) Time Zone.
Baldwin was the first licensed mental health professional to maintain that inclusion of non-injurious elements of sadomasochism (bondage, flagellation, domination, submission and others) in a consenting sexuality does not itself indicate or confirm mental illness or psycho-sexual dysfunction.
In 1982, Baldwin and his then-partner, Race Bannon, launched the Kink Aware Professionals (KAP) list, a directory connecting individuals with professionals knowledgeable about and supportive of BDSM practices. This initiative has since evolved into the Kink And Polyamory Aware Professionals Directory, which is now managed by the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom.
In 1989 he served as Mr. National Leather Association and soon after as the 11th International Mr. Leather and remains the only person to ever hold both titles. His book, The Leather Contest Guide is considered required reading for producers, contestants, judges and titleholders. He is also the author of SlaveCraft: Roadmaps for Erotic Servitude and Ties That Bind.
Much more information about him can be found on his Inductee page at the Leather Hall of Fame at www.leatherhalloffame.com (2012), on YouTube, and on Wikipedia.
