Dr. Sheff offers expert witness services for criminal and civil cases involving sexual and gender minorities, especially BDSM/kink and consensual nonmonogamies. Sheff specializes in cases related to consent, age play, death by kinky sex, discrimination, employment, and family law issues such as divorce, child custody, and interacting with child protective services. Dr. Sheff has a Ph.D. in Sociology (University of Colorado, Boulder), over 20 years of both teaching at universities and conducting research with sexual minority families, certifications as a Sexuality Educator (AASECT) and a Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian Ad Litem (Fulton County Juvenile Court, Atlanta), as well as extensive experience speaking to a wide variety of audiences (from college students and public lecture audiences to other academicians and media outlets like NPR, CNN, CBS, and National Geographic).
