Sliding Scale Therapy for Individuals + Partners in SF

Name of Primary Practitioner
Jen Joseph
Business Excerpt
I work with individuals, couples, and partners on a sliding-scale basis in San Francsico. My work is centered on a sex-positive, feminist, anti-oppression model. I identify as, poly, kink, trans, and sex-worker-friendly. I consider how people are impacted by various intersecting oppressions (race, class, gender etc.) and seek to create a therapeutic container of empowerment and liberation. My style is warm, relational, direct, and playful, at times. As a therapist, I afford nurturing support as well as the opportunity for challenge and thoughtful self-inquiry. I offer deep listening, radical acceptance, and wild permission-giving to that which lights you up and honors your integrity and authentic expression. Some of the tools and theoretical frameworks I use include attachment theory, gestalt, expressive arts therapy, sandtray, somatic (body-based) awareness, mindfulness, and energetic healing. I received my Master's degree from the California Institute of Integral Studies in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Expressive Arts Therapies. I have additional training in movement-based expressive arts therapies as well as extensive training in a transformative energetic healing art called VortexHealing® Divine Energy Therapy. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Women's Studies from McGill University and am currently enrolled in the Sex Therapy certificate program at the California Institute of Integral Studies. I'm also a licensed massage therapist and have been involved in the world of alternative/holistic healing for nearly a decade. Areas of focus include: - Sexuality + intimacy - Relationship difficulties + communication - Self-esteem + self-love - Difficult feelings: fear, guilt, sadness, anger, + shame - Self-defeating behaviors + patterns - Life transitions - Loss + grief - Stress + work/life balance - Women's issues + empowerment - Alternative relationship structures - Gender and/or sexual identity issues - Accessing purpose + meaning If you'd like to connect, email me at [email protected] or leave a message on my confidential voicemail at (628) 333.5906.
