Hi there, I'm Jessica Luiz, a cognitive-behavioral (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) specialist serving adults 18 and older seeking help building awareness, skills, and actions aligned with their values. I use evidence-based treatment to help clients overcome feelings of being stuck or overwhelmed, and improve quality of relationships and daily life.
My approach to therapy is warm, practical and goal-oriented expressed through genuine honesty, active collaboration, and a little bit of humor. I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable to express your thoughts, needs, feelings, and desires openly to better understand what is getting in the way of a more fulfilling life and brainstorm ways together to overcome them. As we build our trusting, collaborative relationship I will teach you evidenced based tools and techniques to decrease suffering and lead to sustainable change.
A core part of the work is grounding in values and basing choices on what matters. I believe in looking at the whole being and all aspects of your life, including relationships, upbringing, work, and health. I perceive struggles, pain, and imperfection as opportunities to learn and grow. As such, we will work together to apply your coping skills and personal strengths while building flexibility to cultivate the life that you want.
