Business Description

Who I Am

As a relational therapist it is important to provide some insight into who I am and what I bring to the space. I am a fat, white, non-binary, queer, lesbian originally from a small town in Ohio.I was raised by Quakers who first introduced me to concepts of social justice and community care which continue to shape the lens I bring to my work and my life. I enjoy spending time with my wife and loved ones, including our two dogs. I enjoy caring for our ever growing plant collection, trying new foods, collecting fat art, and attending local drag and art shows.

I am passionate about increasing people’s connection with themselves and with others, making people feel more connected sexually, and making spaces where queer folks feel seen, heard and known, as individuals and in community.

What I Do

I know the process of beginning therapy can be overwhelming and intimidating. I will work to ensure our space is a calm, non judgemental one that invites vulnerability and connection. I will never force you to move faster than you are ready to, or to share more than you are comfortable doing so. Our work will be collaborative and involve building a trusting relationship together to make room for growth. I believe in strengthening communication and connection with ourselves and with our community in order to build deeper, more fulfilling lives.

I draw inspiration from transformative justice, decolonial practices, and liberation psychology. These approaches emphasize how culture, self, and community are all connected and co-created and make space for the importance of repair. I am trained systemically and work from a psychodynamic and relational framework meaning I prioritize the importance of the therapeutic relationship in healing and the impact of systemic oppression on our mental health and nervous systems. The psychodynamic lens allows for exploring how past experiences impact present relationships and how we move through the world.

As a relationship and sex therapist I have training and experience working with people navigating a variety of relationship structures, sexual desires, and kink identities. I enjoy facilitating deeper communication and understanding of self and of one another within partnerships. I work with individuals, couples, friends, family members, roommates, and polycules. Any and all relationships can benefit from having a therapeutic space to work through challenges, process their experiences, and improve their relationship.

I am passionate about increasing connection with self and with others, helping you feel more connected to your sexuality, and making spaces where you feel seen, heard and known, as an individual and in community. This could include people who are navigating pain during sex, processing shame, wanting to feel more at home in their bodies, understanding and unpacking gender roles, not feeling “queer enough”, as well as partners with differing levels of sexual desire or who are exploring new desires. I especially enjoy working with queer, trans, and fat folks unlearning oppressive systems.
