As a therapist and person of diversity I cannot claim to share everyone’s unique experiences. What I offer is a therapist who can apply the years of education, skills, and clinical experience with openness, compassion and respect for your uniqueness. Our therapy together holds an opportunity to connect through our shared experience of diversity now matter how different.
Often my patients share accounts of finding and working with therapist who truly understand them. In their stories I hear the frustration and disappointment around stereotyping, misgendering, and blindness to the individuals cultural identity. Much of my work has focused on the experiences of first or second generation immigrants in the United States.
On the positive side my work with these patients has provided an opportunity for the patient and myself to look at the components of their unique identities, thought patterns, influences, and diversity to explore how these factors impact their experience of the here and now.
I may have the skills, but you are the expert on your life. It is our shared goal to walk through your life experiences to examine their impact on your present life, and apply skills to create the change your seeking.
