The Program in Human Sexuality (PHS) promotes the sexual and gender health of Minnesota, the nation, and the world through preeminence in research, education, clinical service, and advocacy. Our clinic - The Center for Sexual Health - promotes the sexual and gender health of individuals, couples, and families of all backgrounds and ages by providing assessment and treatment. Jennifer A. Vencill, PhD, LP, is an assistant professor, licensed psychologist, and coordinator of the Relationship & Sex Therapy program at PHS. Dr. Vencill's clinical work has included psychotherapy and assessment experience in community clinics, university counseling centers, and both inpatient and outpatient medical settings. Her clinical interests include sexual health and functioning, gender and sexual identity development, relationship and intimacy concerns, alternative relationship structures, and sexual trauma/abuse recovery. Dr. Vencill sits on the editorial board of the Journal of Positive Sexuality and is past president of the Society for the Psychology of Women's Section on Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Concerns. She received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas Tech University and was the first Michael E. Metz Postdoctoral Fellow in Couples' Sexual Health at the University of Minnesota.

I am a white, cis-queer licensed marriage and family therapist (license #3216) practicing in the Twin Cities. I specialize in concerns of trauma, sexuality, and body image. I utilize EMDR, sex positive principles, and health at every size (HAES) in my practice. I am aligned with AASECT, EMDRIA, and ASDAH (Association for Size Diversity and Health).

I am a Licensed Graduate Social Worker and sex therapist. My training has focused on: working with people who live with chronic health issues live their ideal sex life; people who engage in kink and BDSM; individuals exploring their sexual orientation; people living within or exploring alternative relationship dynamics such as non-monogamy; individuals experiencing sexual compulsivity, sexual addiction or out-of-control sexual behaviors; people exploring the intersection of their sexual health and chemical health/substance use; and individuals recovering from sexual trauma and sexual abuse. My hope is to help anyone I work with, regardless of their struggles, define and work toward their idea of sexual health.

I have worked with enough kink and poly clients to know that finding a therapist that is aware and welcoming can be a difficult challenge. You're nervous to schedule a first appointment with someone because you never know truly how that first interaction will be. My counseling practice is open, welcoming and completely non-judgmental. I'm never shocked and truly want to help everyone feel better and make positive changes, no matter their "issue." Areas I specialize in: -couples counseling -couples considering divorce (discernment counseling) -LGBTQ+ -sex -poly relationships -kink My style of therapy is direct, chill, shorter-term, and coaching to make changes. I believe a therapist should be themselves in session so I often swear and you'll see a lot of my personality. After all, you're opening yourself up, I should meet you there too.
