We understand that treatment & support can add up and become expensive over time – but the personal and financial costs of delaying or avoiding treatment can be much higher. Instead of focusing on the cost of therapy, consider what the many potential costs are of not going to treatment. PSYCHOTHERAPY RATES Individual, Family, Couples & Group Psychotherapy rates vary depending on the therapist. For an exact rate, please inquire for clarification. Sliding scale fees are also determined by each individual therapist. For individual psychotherapy, to see a certified or licensed clinician, our out-of-pocket sliding scale range from $120 – $180 per session. To see one of our Master’s or Doctorate level interns, the range is $70 – $100 per session. Our psychiatric services, as well as our ADHD evaluations, range between $150 – $200 per session. We offer psychotherapy and psychoeducation group options between $30 – $50 per session. PRIVATE AND SEMI-PRIVATE SOMATIC THERAPY RATES Rates depend on the type of service ranging from $30-$150 per individual session or group session. Please inquire with individual practitioners for clarification, as rates vary depending on services. TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE & ACUPUNCTURE RATES We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards as forms of payment and direct payments through PayPal on our website. We can provide you with a superbill which you can submit for out-of-network benefits. Cash rates: 90 minute new client/intake acupuncture intake session: $150 60 minute follow-up session: $95 60 minute intensive orthopedic session (dry needling): $115 60 minute acupuncture session with cupping and/or guasha: $115 Herbal/TCM dietary consultation is included with acupuncture but can be offered separately to clients who do not wish to receive acupuncture. We use Crane Herb, an online herbal pharmacy, to provide high-quality Chinese herbs in a variety of formats. You will receive a link in your email to order your herbs from Crane and they will be shipped directly to you. Initial herbal/TCM dietary consultation (30 minutes, can be done via Zoom): $85 Follow-up herbal/TCM dietary consultation (15-30 minutes): $65 Insurance The Mind Body Co-op currently accepts: Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, BCBS Choice, Aetna, Cigna & United/Optum. We are willing to submit billing to your insurance carrier for out-of-network benefits. Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for psychotherapy services to be covered in full or in part. Please contact your provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services. We recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits: Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits? Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it, and have I met it yet? Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit? Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered? Sliding Scale: We understand that many individuals, couples, and families have a myriad of financial commitments and believe in affordable access to mental health care. Please contact us for more information on our sliding scale options. Payment We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards as forms of payment.

Hibiscus Acupuncture

I believe experiencing consistent joy and ease is possible for every person, and I have a passion for working with patients to bring their lives into that state. The source of healing is in your own body and self—the acupuncture, herbs, and other modalities I use help you to make your own medicine. I am here to offer my knowledge and compassion, and I know that when we work together as a team, we will create equilibrium and health.

I am a Licensed Acupuncturist, having received my MAcOM from Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, where I am also currently an Admissions Officer and manager of the herbal dispensary. I have previously held certifications as an Emergency Medical Technician and in classical yoga via the Providence Institute. While traveling around the world, I trained in Ayurveda in Trivandrum, India, and tantric yoga at Mahasiddha Yoga in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Jingshen Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine

Dr. Weeks is a Doctor of Oriental Medicine who is an NCCAOM board certified Diplomat of Oriental Medicine. He is also registered as a Licensed Acupuncturist in Oregon. Dr. Weeks trained in acupuncture and herbal medicine at the Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Dr. Weeks also trained in the Atlas 33 Structural Decompression technique under Dr. John Heuertz after witnessing the technique’s tremendous impact on pain relief and improving quality of life. He also became certified in the Advanced Allergy Therapeutics technique because of it’s fantastic ability to provide long-term relief from the body’s inappropriate reactions to allergens. He is currently earning a certificate in Kiiko Matsumoto style acupuncture, which involves an advanced form of palpation providing instant feedback on how well the treatment is working. It also uses a shallow and virtually painless style of needling using the smallest gauge needles. This style also includes a variety of eclectic and effective non-invasive techniques which provide many options for treating even the most complicated patients. Certified in Neuroacupuncture, Dr. Weeks frequently serves as a volunteer assisting with the Level 1 and Level 2 training of students at the Neuroacupuncture Institute of Santa Fe. His success treating complicated central nervous system disorders has fueled his passion for this very innovative method of treatment. Dr. Weeks came to medicine after spending many years studying and teaching history at the university level. Prior to his studies at Southwest Acupuncture College, Dr. Weeks had completed all the tests and prerequisites to begin Western Medical School. The change in approach from Western to Eastern was precipitated by his experiences with Chinese Medicine and the efficacy with which acupuncture and herbs were able to treat the majority of common quality of life maladies like pain, allergies, obgyn disorders, as well as digestive and mental health issues. His passion has always been helping people to feel well and enjoy life and using a medicine that allows him to do so effectively is the basis of his practice. In his free time, Shawn enjoys laughing and living life with his wife and two daughters, martial arts, cooking, gardening, reading, and dancing.

Sue Cook, MS, MSW, L.Ac., LSW

Psychotherapist & Acupuncturist Hi, I’m Sue! I have a Master’s degree in Traditional East Asian Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Science and a Master’s in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. I have been in practice as an acupuncturist for the last eight years and recently became a licensed social worker. My approach as a therapist has been heavily influenced by my work in Traditional East Asian Medicine. I offer client-centered compassion-based therapy that incorporates methods such as CBT, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and narrative therapy. I also provide traditional Chinese style acupuncture as well as motor point/trigger point acupuncture (sometimes referred to as “dry needling”) in addition to cupping, guasha, and moxibustion. I am also a passionate herbalist and have trained in both traditional Chinese herbalism as well as the more commonly used European and North American herbs. In addition to herbs, I enjoy recommending nutritional supplements such as amino acids and vitamins. I love to use therapy or acupuncture in supporting my clients in their journey to reconcile and heal their bodies and mind. I have worked extensively with trauma survivors, people with chronic illnesses and pain, and LGBTQ2IA emerging adults. I am sex/kink/polyamory-positive, body-neutral, and sex-worker affirming. I strive to acknowledge and to combat the systemic impact of White supremacy, including its relationship to fatphobia, transphobia, and ableism. I use my own personal experiences dealing with chronic pain and trauma to fuel my compassionate, common-sense approach to treating my clients. My specialties and current interests include chronic pain and illness, trauma recovery, depression and anxiety, body-image and self-esteem, IBS, and autoimmune diseases. I am honored to be working with such a skilled and thoughtful team of healers! I believe that trauma is a story that is written on both the body and mind; it is important to bring the body back to a place of safety in order for the mind to recover. I am so excited to be able to be part of a group that recognizes the importance of a holistic approach to trauma recovery. Fun fact about me: I am an avid tabletop and video gamer. Since the pandemic started I have been running a series of Dungeons & Dragons and Star Trek Adventures role-playing games with friends from all over the country via Zoom! I also love to cook, garden, and read under a blanket pile with my cat. Reach us at 312-279-9981 or Make an Appointment here!
