As a therapist, I see my job as helping you. My hope is to support you in being able to explore and work on concerns that are impacting your life, work, and relationships. I am friendly / aware / and educated / experienced in the fields of the BDSM / Kink / Alternative Relationship worlds and feel that people in these communities need assistance just as much as everyone else. Many therapists want to be but cannot fully embody being sex-positive and talking about areas that push their comfort zones. I enjoy bringing openness about these areas into the therapeutic relationship. The areas that challenge you to grow but are safe enough to bring into a therapeutic setting. My intention is to provide a space that is safe & accepting so that a sense of balance between freedom and stability in relationship to oneself and others is available. I have a degree in Somatic Psychology and am a registered Dance Movement Therapist. I've been in the field of counseling since 2011. I specialize in working with people who are pregnant, birthing, creating a family, and want to experience vitality in their relationships. I'm trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Somatic models, Motivational Interviewing, Gestalt, Birth-Related Psychotherapy (I'm trained as a birth doula), sexual & relational health, and different developmental movement practices. Compulsive Sexual Behavior/Sex Addiction: Many healthcare workers view and treat compulsive behavior as an "addiction," with sexual behavior being the primary problem. The addiction model is typically based on 12-step programs that focus on refraining from sexual behavior judged inappropriate by the program, rather than cultivating sexual behaviors that support a healthy and unique expression of your sexuality. As an alternative or adjunct to this approach, I work with compulsive sexual behavior as a potential symptom of some greater underlying cause that, when addressed, can lead to greater fulfillment and closeness in your sexual and intimate relationships. Couple/Relationship Counseling: I welcome diversity in working with all relationships, whether heterosexual, same-sex, monogamous, polyamorous, open, or anything in between. By employing a psychobiological approach (PACT), we can explore dynamics in the relationship around communication, attachment, and regulation to better understand how the mind and body impact relationship. Sexuality: I celebrate diversity in gender and sexual orientation, as well as all forms of sexual expression, preferences, and fetishes from vanilla to kink and everything in between. Sexual Abuse/Trauma: I use Somatic Experiencing (SE) to include the mind and body for a more holistic approach to engaging trauma.
