I am a MI Court Certified Mediator/Arbitrator. My training reaches well beyond the typical 40 hour training that most Mediators in MI complete to be "qualified". Having a BS in Comparative Religion, being an open member of the LGBTQ community and living in the Lifestyle, I recognize the value of diversity and tailor my services to meet the needs of the individuals involved. Here are some FAQs about my company. What is Mediation? -Mediation is a process by which a Mediator (neutral party) helps facilitate discussion between parties in conflict to reach an agreement. Why Mediation? -Mediation can cost far less than litigation. Lawyers' fees, filing fees, etc. can add up quickly. In Mediation, a lawyer is not necessary because YOU help to solve the conflict. -Mediation is confidential. No records/transcripts are kept, anything said during the process cannot be used in court. -Often, conflict can be solved in a matter of hours rather than days, months or even years that court cases sometimes take to be heard, let alone ruled on. -You can tell your story more thoroughly than a court room allows. -Many courts in the Wayne, Oakland and Washtenaw counties are ordering cases to try Mediation before taking up the court's time. What can Mediation do for me? -Mediation can help to preserve important relationships that the litigation process can damage ie: Neighbors, business/customer, family relations, etc. -Mediation can also help to find a more customized solution to conflict. Litigation is often too specific to get what you need- if your case doesn't fit the law, you can't go to court. Mediation is for anyone willing to talk.
