I help people with alternative sexualities who feel alone, abnormal, and unlovable. I show them how to accept themselves in their beauty and strength, so they can experience loving connection in their lives. I’m a Certified Somatic Therapist, which means I use a combination of talk, touch, and movement to work with you as a whole person – not just a brain, but a body, heart, and spirit. In this form of therapy, we use the body as a primary source of information and healing. By getting you in conversation with your body, I can help you to discover the habits that are holding you back, the stories you tell yourself that keep you stuck, and the pathway to different possibilities in your life. Release trauma, get relief from chronic pain, befriend your body and find the love and the life you deserve.
O’Brien is a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern and offers psychotherapy with a Mind-Body emphasis drawing from an extensive background, including, but not limited to: a Master of Arts in Somatic Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University (JFKU), Certified Sex Educator training from San Francisco Sex Information (SFSI) & Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) from Tapping the Matrix Academy.
Talking is great AND in my experience, can sometimes have limits, therefore the somatic practices I share, utilize the vast wisdom of the body and self-awareness to go deeper without having to necessarily go into re-traumatizing stories. Sessions are tailored to the individual(s), but may include awareness of bodily sensations, and/or movement, breathing techniques and/or somatic tools such as EFT (Tapping on traditional Chinese acupuncture points).
